Zanesville Employee Gets Star of Life

A Zanesville paramedic is the recipient of a national award for the work he does every single day.

Joseph Baker was one of 77 EMS providers to be honored with the Star of Life Award in Washington DC.

"It felt good just to be appreciated and recognized for doing a job. I really felt appreciated, " says Baker.

The 77 winners were nominated by their peers. Those nominations were sent to the American Ambulance Association for review.

"Yes, we have a lot of great EMT’s and paramedics, but this person goes above and beyond on a consistent basis. (They) really needs to be recognized on a national level and be honored for their achievements," says Community Ambulance Executive Director, Phil Koster.

Baker has been working with Community Ambulance for about 10 years. He has covered many roles, including dispatcher, paramedic, and field training officer. Koster says Baker also has had the chance to work on National Hurricane Relief efforts.
