Years of Community Service
Morgan County is honoring a man for his years of service to the community.
The Kate Love Simpson Library staff held a Lifetime Achievement Award Ceremony for Doctor Robert Richmond, who is so commonly referred to as "Doc."
"I feel like maybe i shouldn’t be here (laughs) because there’s a lot of people who do the same thing in a community, but I really feel honored, " says "Doc."
"Doc" has been a veterinarian for over 50 years, and he says he received a great piece of advice one day while attending an Ohio Association of Veterinarians meeting. The president of the group spoke and said something that has stuck with "Doc" all these years.
"He says, ‘Fellows, don’t just take from the community, give back.’ So, I’ve been giving back as much as I can, " says "Doc."
Those honoring "Doc" says he’s donated countless hours of his time to numerous organizations in the community, including the Chamber of Commerce, the Historical Society, and the Civil War Reenactors. He also served as a member of the library’s Board of Trustees for almost 40 years.
