18-Year-Old Dies after Granville Accident
An 18-year-old Granville man is dead following an early morning accident.
It happened around 5:30 a.m. along Welsh Hills Road, just west of Sharon Valley Road.
A dispatcher with the Granville Post of the State Highway Patrol says 18-year-old Austin Layman went off the right side of the road, hit an embankment, and overturned.
When crews arrived at the scene, Granville Fire Lieutenant Casey Curtis says Layman was found outside the vehicle, and he was unresponsive. Layman was taken by ambulance to Grant Medical Center in Columbus after it was determined MedFlight couldn’t fly due to weather. Curtis says the man’s injuries were life-threatening. The State Highway Patrol later confirmed Layman died of injuries at the hospital.
