Recount Ordered in 18th Congressional District GOP Race
A recount has been ordered in the 18th Congressional District Republican Primary race.
A letter was issued Tuesday from Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner stating that a recount was necessary due to the close margin of votes cast between the winning candidate Bob Gibbs and the candidate with the next highest number of votes Fred Dailey.
District-Wide Vote Totals:
Bob Gibbs 11,037(20.94%)
Fred Daily 10,881(20.65%)
Jeanette Moll 10,013(19.00%)
Ron Hood 8,204(15.57%)
Dave Daubenmire 6,288(11.93%)
Hombre Liggett 4,065(7.71%)
Michael Royer 1,318(2.50%)
Beau Bromberg 894(1.70%)
Brunner says the 16 County Boards of Elections in the 18th District will now need to set a time, method and place at which the recount will take place no later than June 4.
The declared winner of the Republican Primary after the recount will run against Democratic Incumbent Zack Space in the November General Election.
