Malta to See New Health Facility

Morgan County is announcing the groundbreaking of a new facility that hopes to improve the quality of life for local residents.

It’s a new health center on Main Street in Malta, which will work under the umbrella of the Muskingum Valley Health Center.

"It’s going to provide very important primary care services to the people of Morgan County, covering everything from family physician primary care to mental health counseling to substance abuse counseling to oral hygiene and oral care. It’s very, very important, " says US Congressman Zack Space.

The project is federally funded in the amount of about $3,000,000.

Space says it’s not just going to provide easily accessible healthcare . It’s also aiding the county’s economy, which has a history of a high unemployment rate in the state.

"This is going to put people to work. It’s going to put people to work in construction phase as well as sustainable jobs. Then it’s going to provide access to healthcare that is so desperately needed here, " says Space.

Construction is set to begin in July with a completion date of sometime next summer.
