Rittberger Announces Voluntary Recall of Bacon

Rittberger Meats in Zanesville has announced a voluntary recall.

The recall involves approximately 15 pounds of sliced bacon that was not inspected by the Ohio Department of Agriculture’s Division of Meat Inspection.

Company President Andy Rittberger says the possibility of a food safety hazard is remote and that it was simply a mistake that the Ohio Department of Agriculture was not notified.

The product being recalled is 20-12 ounce packages of sliced bacon that was sold exclusively at the Zanesville Farmer’s Market on Saturday July 10th.

There have been no reports of illness due to consumption of this product.

Company officials are urging customers not to eat the product and return it to the company located at 1900 Lutz Lane or you can call their office at (740) 452-2767.
