Creative Entries For Festival of Trees

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The excitement is high for the community and the Chamber of Commerce when they kick off their preview for the Festival of Trees.
The preview starts at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Welcome Center. This gives the public an opportunity to check out the different trees and wreaths in full decoration, that will be bid on for Friday. Chamber of Commerce President, Dana Matz, said people go bigger and better every year with the decorations on the trees. It’s very diverse with themes and he says there are never any duplicates. He said the community will enjoy how creative the trees can be, for example a Victorian Village tree.
“Each level is a platform that has Victorian pieces on it from the Victorian village. So it’s pretty unique, so we’re excited about that. Numerous trees, we have over 200 entries this year; trees, wreaths, stockings. And there’s a lot of creative folks in our town,” Matz said.
People who have an entry will donate incentives in addition to the beautiful trees. These incentives range from tickets to sporting events to gift cards, and more. Matz said there are a lot of unique ties on what people bid on.
“There are hotel stays if you have folks coming in for the holidays. You can get a hotel room for them, buy in an entry. We have meals for local restaurants, all kinds of things so very exciting,” he added.
The auction for the Festival of Trees is Friday, running from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
