Collection for the Animal Shelter

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – One animal lover is hoping to make a difference this holiday season.
11-year-old Kaidence Burkett is collecting donations of food, peanut butter, and toys for the dogs and cats at the Animal Shelter Society in Zanesville. She said she wanted to collect donations because she knows the shelter can always use the supplies.
“Because they are always in need of something because they get so many cats and dogs,” said Burkett. “So I thought it would be a good idea to raise donations for the Animal Shelter.”
Burkett said she made fliers to send home with each of the students to let them know about the collection and she has been making announcements every morning. She said as a huge animal lover she feels all animals should be treated well and she hopes the treats and toys will make them happy.
“I felt since the animals at the shelter do not have homes, it can get very stressful for them, so by getting toys or food or treats, it can probably just make them happy,” said Burkett.
Burkett said they are collecting items until the 21st and that any donations can be brought to the office at John McIntire Elementary School.
