Get Your 2019 Dog License

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The 2019 Dog Licenses are currently available to purchase for each dog in your home.
In 2017, there were 11,974 dog licenses sold in Muskingum County and in 2018, there were 12,446. Muskingum County Auditor, Debra Nye, said there are many reasons that dog owners should have a dog license.
“You want to make sure you get those dogs license to make sure that your dog has their license so that if a dog would be separated from its owner, the dog warden can at least look at the dog tag, look it up on our website and be able to reunite the owner and the dog,” Nye said.
The 2019 year long dog licenses are usually $20 but they are on sale for $10 until January 31st. Not only is it a safe decision for your pet to have a license but it is also required.
“It’s required by the Ohio Revised Code so anytime that you have a dog that’s over three months old, you are required to get a dog license. We have an opportunity to purchase either a one-year dog license, which that is $10. A three-year dog license, that’s $30 and then a permanent one, which you only have to purchase one time, is $100,” Nye said.
There are multiple locations you can go to locally to purchase your one-year dog license and you can find the list of those locations on the county auditor’s website or you can buy the license online. If you are interested in getting a three-year dog license or a permanent one, they are only available to purchase at the county auditor’s office.
