Mercer Road Fire

 

Three fire departments fought a morning fire on Mercer Road in Norwich. At 6:50 Am a call came in reporting a structure fire at 8985 Mercer Rd.

Adamsville Volunteer Fire Department responded to the call and with the help of Perry County Volunteer Fire Department and New Concord Volunteer Fire Department the fire was controlled.

Later in the day the fire continued to burn. Adamsville Volunteer Fire Department said due to the age of the house it was structurally unsafe to fight.  Everything but the stone walls will eventually burn to the ground and the fire will go out.

The Muskingum County sheriff’s office spoke with Terry Boyd who was living in the house on and off; he says he was not home at the time of the fire and is fine. Cause and orgin of the fire remain unknown.
