First Ever Muskingum County Health Plan

The first ever Muskingum County Community health improvement plan is underway. For the next two days, people and organizations affected by the local public health system will meet to review a number of issues.

Four assessments were to take place. They are community health status assessment, forces of change, community themes and strengths assessment. Generally, the local public health system will be assessed. The public health system includes areas like school, law enforcement, hospitals, and community centers.

"This will be an over arching plan that represents those agencies but we are really saying we are all going to work together towards raising the health of our county" community health planner, Jody Stone.

The information collected will fill the gaps and barriers in the current system. The community will see certain changes.

"We should see changes in resources that are available to people and potential facilities down the road. We should see changes in hopefully peoples’ behavior because they have access to services that they need, but ultimately you would want to see in you know the long term things" said Stone.

A new system with clickers allowed everyone in the room to vote and made the counts accurate.
