Morgan County Officials On Meningitis
The Morgan County Health Department is reporting that a one-year-old boy died from what is believed to be a form of bacterial meningitis. Officials say they first learned of the case on Wednesday and immediately started an investigation. The department was notified that the patient died, but no confirmation is yet available to attribute the death to meningitis. The Health Department says a second probably case of meningitis has also been identified in a one-year-old girl from Morgan County. She is recovering in a Columbus Hospital. The Health Department says both cases have a common exposure. Friends, family members and contacts of the two children have been notified and all school buses and Morgan transit vehicles have been sanitized. The Morgan County Health Department is closely monitoring the situation.
