Racing for Kids
Some local adults got the chance to feel like kids again this evening. The Kiwanis Club of Zanesville hosted a corporate pinewood derby race at the Knights of Columbus, Sunrise Center. The event served as a fundraiser to support Kiwanis’s child-oriented programs.
"It’s a homerun." said event chairman Kevin Pinson. "It’s a great evening, people are having a great time, and we are generating almost $4,000 dollars for our projects.
There were 15 entries in the double-elimination race. Pinson says the evening was all about having fun.
"We’re out here having a good time, and the best part is it benefits the children of Zanesville" he said
Trophies were awarded to the top three finishers. A People’s Choice Award trophy was also presented to the car with the best looking design. The money raised will be used to support the Kiwanis Clubs’ annual Christmas party for low-income children, as well as Special Riders, a partnership with the Carr Center to provide horseback riding lessons to developmentally disabled children.
