Independent Candidates Announced For Mayor, Council
There will not be a primary election Tuesday in Muskingum County. But this week independent candidates running for Zanesville Mayor and City Council have officially filed their petitions with the Muskingum County Board of Elections.
Zanesville resident Randy Case will be running for mayor against democratic candidate and city councilman Jeff Tilton and republican candidate Rob Sharrer. Former second ward city councilman Kevin Mcpeek will be running for second ward once again.
"After the board certifies it, what they do is look over the petitions and make sure there was enough valid signatures and everything was properly filled out," said Chris Hammill, Muskingum County Board of Elections Director.
Hammill says there are 58 valid signatures needed to run for mayor or council at large. 25 are needed to run for a ward council member.
