Union Wants Your Signature
Union Local 88 is asking you to help put a referendum for Senate Bill 5 on the November ballot.
In the State of Ohio over 230,000 signatures are needed by June 30th in order to let the voters decide to keep or do away with the bill that limits the collective bargaining rights for thousands of public employees.
"I just think the public should have a chance to look at the facts and listen to both sides and have an opportunity to consider the testimony that was given by everyone and make a decision and see what the effects are," said Union President for Local 88.
Meek said the bill passed in 51 days and is over 500 pages long not giving lawmakers time to consider the facts fully.
"I’m not asking anyone to be in favor of Senate Bill 5 and I’m not asking anyone to be opposed to Senate Bill 5, but I’m asking you to come in and sign the referendum and put it on the ballot," said Meek.
Union Local 88 will be set up until 7p.m. Thursday in the American Legion parking lot near the police station collecting signatures. And will be holding drives like this one throughout the county.
