State Senator Jimmy Stewart To Resign

State Senator Jimmy Stewart is stepping down from his post this summer. The Albany Republican – who is facing criticism from parts of his southeastern Ohio district for his vote in favor of senate bill 5 – told the Senate President Tuesday that he is resigning effective in July. That bill cuts collective bargaining right for public workers. Senate President Tom Niehaus said Stewart informed him that he is going to pursue an opportunity in the private sector. Stewart has been in the state legislature since 2003.
