Looking to the Sky

A special event this weekend will have people looking to the skies.

The 30th Coshocton Hot Air Balloon Festival is taking place Friday through Sunday at the county fairgrounds. The event is free and offers music from Timothy Paul and Phil Dirt and the Dozers as well as fireworks, Friday night. There’s also an event known as a night glow.

"Eight balloons will come back after their flight to the centerfield area of the fairgrounds. They’ll stand their balloons up and they’ll start lighting them up and they’ll look Chinese lanterns," explained Hot Air Balloon Pilot Ken Cramer.

Cramer said it’s a great opportunity for those looking to take photos. Sunday those in attendance have a chance to meet some of the balloon pilots and see the balloons up close.

"There’s just something magical about ballooning that excites people," said Cramer. "It’s just a gentle playful activity. It inspires just the child in all of us and for some reason it touches everyone in a really wonderful way."

There are a number of other activities taking place over the weekend including safety Saturday where kids can get up close to emergency personnel and their vehicles. A kiddie tractor pull takes place on Sunday. To find out more about the weekends activities call (740) 622-5411.
