Scrap Tire Clean-Up In Morgan County

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency was cleaning up scrap tires in Morgan County on Monday. It is part of a program the EPA has in place to help property owners. This property boarders Wayne National Forest in Deerfield Township near the intersection of County Road 16 and Township Road 117. The property owner lives in another county and has been victim of opening dumping over the years. The EPA’s Erin Strouse says the property owner found out of the state’s scrap tire program and called for help. Strouse says around 350 illegally dumped tires were removed from the property and will be recycled. The Ohio EPA encourages citizens to report locations of scrap tire dumps to their local health department or the EPA.  In Southeast Ohio residents can call 1-800 686-7330.
