Dresden Kid Parade
The rain held off for a fun day of festivities in Dresden…
The Dresden Homecoming Kids Parade was held Saturday morning in downtown. President, Connie Buckmaster, said, the goal is to not only raise money for troops overseas, but also to raise confidence in those kids that participated
"When we go to the stage and somebody doesn’t win, sometimes we have some kids that cry, because they didn’t get it," said Buckmaster. "Then we got other kids that, you know..’I won, I won! "
The winner of this years homecoming contest, Heather Rickeart, said, she has been involved in the parade for four years and can’t believe it’s her time to shine.
"Pretty much a leadership role. I mean, yeah, you have all these kids looking up to you and all this respect and your like, ‘how do I handle all this?’ said Rickeart. "It’s pretty awesome."
Rickeart said, she has many friends going into the military and thinks it’s important to support troops of all generations. The Junior Auxiliary plans to visit the Chillicothe Hospital in August to honor those who have served. The event is sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary.
