Raising Funds For Local Patients

Pink was the color of the day at Jaycee’s Golf Course.

The site was home to the 31st Annual Muskingum County Cancer Society’s Pink Ribbon Golf Outing. The money raised goes to providing gas cards for local residents in cancer treatment along with other items. Some even goes towards research.

"They’re always looking at new cancer research," said Event Organizer Martha Peurkey. "There’s even a lot of cancer research going on in Zanesville that a lot of people don’t realize is happening but is truly happening."

The hope is to raise $10,000 from the outing with nine teams taking part.

"Cancer touches everybody’s life in some way or another and we want people to realize cancer is not the end. There are things that it can’t do and it can’t break somebody’s spirit," said Peurkey.

Many sponsors stepped up to help with the even. There were 39 tee sponsors and lunch provided by Chipotle.  One more note — the highlight of the day was a hole-in-one by Nancy Sarap on the 17th hole.
