School Supplies in Stock

Back to school…It seems summer just ended but for retail… Class is in session.

Back to school sales and supplies officially kicked off this week. K-Mart General Manager, Tracy Kohler said July 4th typically ends the summer season for retail as back-to-school supplies are shipped in.

"It seems early yeah, the kids are looking at it saying, we don’t want to go back to school but you know as parents we know how much it costs to send our kids back to school and a lot of customers use our lay-away option," explained Kohler. "They need to get that stuff, get it in lay-away so they can make payments on it so when school is here they have it for their kids and it’s not a big slam on their wallet all at once."

Kohler said most back-to-school shoppers will purchase all their items at the start of the school year but suggests the best way to get deals is to watch the ads each week and buy the items a little bit at a time.

"That’s the best way to do it to save the best amount of money," said Kohler. "Because they do run really good deals and of course it’s not everything every week so if you’re buying everything at once you’re going to pay the higher price for some of those items."

By the end of this week most retailers will have in stock all school supplies, including K-12 and college material. Kohler said, promotions will run until September when…Halloween sales will begin.
