Waldenbooks Closing Its Doors
The Waldenbooks in the Colony Square Mall will close a chapter in their book as the store is set to close.
Borders the company that owns Waldenbooks is shutting its over three hundred remaining stores after attempts to save the business unraveled last week when a bid from another company failed under objections from creditors and lenders.
One employee at Walden said she won’t know when the store will officially close until a hearing is held Thursday.
In that hearing Borders is expected to ask the US Bankruptcy Court to allow it to be sold to a liquidator.
If the judge approves the move, liquidation sales could start as soon as Friday and the company could be out of business by the end of September.
Borders liquidation puts thousands of people out of work. Shoppers at the Colony Square Mall expressed their displeasure with the closure but said since it’s a national move there’s not much that can be done now.
