A Change of Steps for Melissa Marie School of Dance

Young ladies lace-up their dance shoes in a new studio.

The Melissa Marie School of Dance celebrated their new location Saturday. Owner Melissa Berga has been operating the School of Dance for 10 years. Originally located along the East Pike in South Zanesville the growth and expansion of the company brought them to their new location along Old Falls Road in Zanesville. Berga whose been dancing since she was 2 knows the location doesn’t matter- it’s the inspiration.

"It’s really inspiring to watch a little girl come at the age 2 and watch their personalities from being very shy to going on stage that first time and glowing with a smile and really feeling accomplishment," said Berga.

Dance Assistant Tasia Foster has experienced that taste of accomplishment. She began dancing with Berga at age 2 and said her passion for dance has given her a similar motivation.

"She’s always been my role model," said Foster. "I’ve always wanted to be like her when I was younger, so just now, she’s inspired me to teach dance and hopefully I go really far with it."
