Edna Mae Samson (July 23, 1935 – November 5, 2011)

Edna Mae Samson, 76, of Zanesville, died at 1:20 p.m. Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. She was born on July 23, 1935, in Zanesville, to the late Ralph and Hannah Swartz Scott. Edna retired after 29 years of service from United Technology and attended Rolling Plains United Methodist Church. She was also an avid Bingo player, reader and enjoyed putting puzzles together.

Surviving are four daughters, Peggy S. Sims of Zanesville, Sharon K. Samson of Chesterhill, Rose M. Farmer of South Zanesville and Mary K. (Jacob) Hennes of Hilliard; three sons, Roger (Carla) Samson of Zanesville, Robert Samson of Adamsville and William D. (Judy) Samson of South Zanesville; 22 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; three sisters, Ida (Gordon) Lane of Philo, Llian (Cecil) Dennis of Philo and Saundra (Willard) Hensley; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar W. Samson Jr., who died June 24, 2009; a brother, Johnny Scott; and a sister, Ruth Phillips.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville where the funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 with Pastor Brian Law officiating. Edna will be laid to rest next to husband, Oscar, at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
