John Paul Bender, Sr. (March 8, 1928 – January 18, 2012)

ZANESVILLE

John Paul Bender Sr., 83 of Zanesville passed away January 18, 2012 at his home. He was born March 8, 1928 in Zanesville a son of the late Frank and Henretta Spurrior Bender. He was retired after 43 years of service with McGraw Edison, was a member of North Terrace Church of Christ, and served his country and protected our freedoms in the United States Air Force. John enjoyed woodworking and golf, having hit a hole-in-one at Fullers Fairway in 1989.
He is survived by his wife Delores Durant Bender; two sons John (Louanna) Bender Jr. of Zanesville and David (Karen) Bender of South Carolina; step-sons Harvey (Becky) Ritchey of Norwich and Timothy (Holly) Richey of Zanesville; three step daughters Linda (Warren) Hayes of Zanesville, Connie(Eric) Tanner of Illinois and Karen (Ron) Miller of Zanesville; two brothers Jim (Ardith) Bender of Florida and Ben (June) Bender of Zanesville; 16 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; Special pet Timmy
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Patricia Bender; two brothers Thomas and Henry Bender; three sisters Genevieve Goodwin, Thelma Achauer and Fannie Everly.
Calling hours will be held 5-8pm Thursday January 19, 2012 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME 1150 W. MILITARY RD ZANESVILLE and one hour prior to services at 2pm on Friday January 20, 2012 in the Snouffer Chapel with Pastor Bill Meaige officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
