An Evening with Hiring Professionals

The endless job hunt may already feel like a full-time job. The Opportunity Center in downtown Zanesville is working to help you stand out and land that position.

An Evening with Hiring Professionals has become an annual event for the Opportunity Center. It’s not a job fair or a hiring event- rather it’s a chance for job seekers to sit down and talk with local companies on what they are looking for during an interview or in a future employee.

"For instance, if someone says to me, tell me a little something about yourself what are you looking for, what are you looking for when you ask me what my strengths are," explained Job Developer Julie Metzger.

Metzger said not being able to sell your strengths is just one mistake job seekers make during an interview. To thoroughly prepare Metzger suggests do your research, know what the company stands for and be ready to not only answer questions about the company but to ask them…

"Have two or three questions ready to ask the employer," said Metzger. "It may be as simple as how long is the training period, what can I expect on my first day on the job, things like that but they do want to have some questions to ask the employer."
