Delmar Allen, 81, of Philo, passed away at 6:15 pm Tuesday June 26, 2012 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital.

Delmar was born July 31, 1930 in Nashport, the son of the late Pearl and Goldia (Cain) Allen. He retired in 1985 after 35 years of service with Owens Brockway Glass, he was a member of the Blue Rock Baptist Church and he served his country in the US Army.

Delmar is survived by his wife Edna (Mitchell ) Allen whom he married October 8, 1955; his son Bill (Tricia) Allen of Philo; his daughters Debbie (Garry) Tysinger of Zanesville, Rita Allen of Philo and Silvia (Paul) Kanzigg of Beallsville, OH; 9 grandchildren Amanda (Craig) Evans, Carl Adam (Celenna) Tysinger, Brett Tysinger, Kyle Allen, Adam Kanzigg, Alexis Kanzigg, Alicia Kanzigg, Krysten Allen and Hannah Allen; 6 great-grandchildren Brandon Evans, Levi Evans, Takota Tysinger, Ethan Evans, Madilyn Hill and Lane Tysinger; a niece Connie Sowers; great niece Angela (Steve) Dunlap and a great-great niece Caitlynn Dunlap.

In addition to his parents Delmar is preceded in death by 2 sisters Della A. Allen and Norma Jean Sowers and a nephew Rogers Sowers.

Visitations will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Thursday June 28, 2012 at the Farus Funeral Home, Duncan Falls where funeral services will be 1 pm Friday with Pastor Tim Gifford officiating. He will be laid to rest in Duncan Falls Cemetery with full military honors provided by George Selsam VFW post $1058.
