Mass Inoculation Day Numbers Slightly Down
Tuesday is Mass Inoculation Day at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds.
The event put on by many different organizations throughout the community provides residents the opportunity to get a flu shot without even getting out of their car. Officials say while this year’s numbers are slightly down likely due to the 5 dollar charge for the shot, they have more than enough doses to supply the entire county.
"I have about 10,000 doses here at this event. Last year, we gave 4200 injections. If you have Medicare or Medicaid, there is no charge to you, some folks that have come through had thought even though they had Medicare, they had to pay the 5 dollars and there’s no charge to those people that have Medicare or Medicaid," said Rambo Memorial Health Center’s Crystal Bebout.
Even though the cost for the shot is 5 dollars, it is not only a benefit to your health, but also your pocketbook in these tough times.
"If you get the vaccine either at your physicians office, or pharmacy or grocery story, and you have insurance and are currently working, your co-pay is going to be over 5 dollars so if they do bill your insurance, your going to have to pay a co-pay and 99 percent of the time it’s going to be over 5 dollars so you can get it at our facility just for 5 dollars," said Bebout.
"Being sick is not much fun. And getting this done and not being sick is well worth it," said Muskingum County Resident Kathy Lavy.
The event at the fairgrounds will continue to give shots until 7:00 Tuesday evening. Otherwise, you can visit the Rambo Memorial Health Center on Main Street in downtown Zanesville starting Wednesday morning at 8 a.m. to get your shot.
