Fink’s Friday Night Blitz: Week 5
High School Football
John Marshall 0 Zanesville 62
(ZANESVILLE) — Wes Hudson will forever have fond memories of John Marshall. Last year against the Monarchs, Hudson took over as the Blue Devils’ top quarterback after an injury to Ian McFarland the week before, and decimated John Marshall’s defense en route to a 49-20 win.
As it turns out, Hudson was saving his best for last. The senior unloaded for six touchdowns, three passing and three rushing, in a big 62-0 win for the Blue Devils (4-1) Friday. Hudson finished with over 260 yards of total offense, while never throwing an incomplete pass. His eight attempts went to six different targets, including touchdown scores to Sean Franklin, Dar Stanford, and Granger Long.
Hudson was also Zanesville’s leading rusher, totaling 84 yards on the ground, the majority of which came on a 51 yard option-keeper that resulted in a score. In all, ZHS amassed 240 yards rushing and 420 total yards. John Marshall (0-5) only managed 83 yards of offense, while punting on seven of their first eight drives.
