Sunrise Strikes Back in Business

Boxes are still being unpacked, but bowlers are already lacing up their shoes at Sunrise Strikes in Zanesville.

The bowling alley re-opened earlier this month under new management.  Employee Pat Mathes said customers can expect an entirely new bowling experience.

"You can see a lot of renovations – a new bar, lanes are resurfaced, we got new monitors, AMF Bowling is here now installing a new scoring system for us that will be up and running in the next few days," said Mathes.

Sunrise Strikes kept about half a dozen employees on staff and hired several new workers as well.  Mathes is one of those familiar faces, and he has a long history with the bowling alley.

"I started working here when I was in 10th grade," said Mathes.  "I was a pin boy in 1974, and I worked on the machines.  I also helped install the new side with 16 lanes, which was in 1976 when I was a senior in high school.  I’ve been around here for a long time."

Mathes said bowlers can still join a league by calling Sunrise Strikes at (740) 297-4684.
