Joanne M. Burson (March 2, 1931 – April 1, 2015)

Joanne M. Burson, 84, of Nashport, passed away at 6:00 P.M. on Monday, April 1, 2015, at Genesis Hospice-Morrison House, surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 2, 1931, in Dover, Ohio, a daughter of the late Gustave and Thelma Gray Burtscher. She graduated in 1949 from St. Joseph High School, and had worked for Ohio Bell.

Surviving are her sons, Richard (Renee) of Florida and Eugene (Karen) of Columbus; her daughter Karen (Dr. Dan) Scheerer of Nashport; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; brothers John (Theresa) Burtscher and Walter (Barbara) Burtscher; sister Jeanne Huff; and her sisters-in-law Florence and Elizabeth.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Richard, whom she married May 24, 1952; brothers Gustave, James, and Robert; brother-in-law Robert Huff; and mother and father-in-law Thomas and Emma Burson.

Friends and family may call one hour prior to the funeral service which will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, April 6, 2014, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, with Rev. Mr. B.N. Peterson officiating. She will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery, Sonora.
