Downtown Cleaning a Success
The Downtown Association hopes that their clean-up project Saturday will help draw attention to the beauty of downtown.
Between 35-40 people took part in Wally Moore Clean Up Day. Tim Smith from the City of Zanesville helped the group target areas that needed tender loving care.
"We had cub scouts who I’m guessing were 8 or 9 years old to Wally Moore who’s 89-years-old," said Downtown Association Manager Dana Matz. "To see so many generations working in an effort to make downtown look better. It was a good feeling."
Matz said that some of the target areas included lots owned by people out of town and the canal area.
"We have truckloads of debris to clean up so we’re very excited about that," said Matz. "As far as general litter in the downtown area we’ve addressed that and we feel we’re in good shape and after this weekends efforts we have a pretty good handle on the weeds."
Next year Matz said the target the area two times. Nearly 132,000 people go through downtown every 24 hours.
