Wage and Benefit Survey Helps Businesses

Muskingum County businesses are being asked to participate in a survey that impacts economic development.

The purpose of the 2011 Wage and Benefit Survey is to gather current data on business practices in our area.  President of the Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce Tom Poorman said companies can use this information for planning, budgeting and making other employment decisions.

"We also use this to help inform companies that are looking into locating here," said Poorman.  "It’s the most commonly requested piece of information that we have."

Poorman said participation has declined this year.  The Chamber of Commerce has only received about 30 submissions so far – less than half of what is needed for a valid and representative sampling of data.

"We know folks are busy out there, and businesses are running leaner than ever, but this is really important data, and it’s a very practical tool, and they will all get to use it," said Poorman.

The deadline has been extended until Friday, and the survey can be found at www.zmchamber.com.
