Guns and Hoses Ready for Kick-off

Law enforcement and fire departments from around southeastern Ohio will battle on the gridiron this weekend.

It’s part of the fourth annual Guns and Hoses Flag Football game taking place at Maysville High School. All money raised goes to the Muskingum Valley Chapter of the Red Cross. Castle Station Firefighter Aaron Lee is playing in his third game as a defensive end and running back.

"Talking to some of the other guys they had a lot of fun the first year," said Lee. "The Red Cross helps both the fire and police out. They help families out when there is a fire at their house. It just seemed like a good reason to help give back."

At the game they’ll be plenty of fun for the family. A Hartsone Ohio State Pottery Basket will be raffled along with Ohio State cornhole boards made by Dep. Scott Saxton.

"It’s just a fun family event. We only charge two dollars a ticket or five dollars for a family," explained Event Organizer Jennifer Kruzan. "If you have two kids, five dollars and go out for the evening, watch a fun football game. There’s no OSU game that night so it’s a great fun evening."

Prior to the game a community day will be held in the parking lot of Maysville High School. There will be police cruisers, firetrucks and a Med-Flight helicopter. Community Day runs from 4:30 to 6:30p.m. and the game kicks off at 7:00p.m.
