Victim’s Neighbor of SR 16 Shooting Speaks Out

Thornville residents have been identified as victims in the shooting that happened Monday afternoon on State Route 16 near Pataskala.

The Licking County Sheriff’s Office identifies the men as 33-year-old Brian Scott Kolesar and 75-year-old Charles Cheadle who both lived at 8020 Pleasantville Rd. in Thornville. Also involved in the shooting was 35-year-old Julie Arnold who also lived at the home and is recovering from two gunshot wounds at Grant Medical Center in Columbus.

"When I heard last night, I was just devastated. My husband is taking it very hard because he knew Chuck very well. You just don’t ever know. You think you know everyone but when something like this happens, it’s just disbelief," said neighbor Donna Peters.

Detectives say their investigation has revealed that Arnold and Kolesar had been involved in a troubled relationship but were not married. Charles was the father of Arnold who is currently recovering.

"I just feel for the whole family because something there went wrong and it’s sad to see the family has to go through this," said Peters.

Detectives are continuing the investigation to determine the sequence of events leading up to the incident, but say it appears Kolesar shot Cheadle and Arnold, and then turned the gun on himself.
