John F. Wonderling (April 5, 1927 – July 4, 2012)

John F. Wonderling, 85, of Zanesville, Ohio died at Emeritus Senior Living on July 4, 2012. He was born April 5, 1927, in Martinsburg, Ohio, the son of the late Lillian P. Kennedy and Charles F. Wonderling. He was a former long time resident of Gahanna, Ohio.

John was a veteran of World War II and proudly served in the United States Navy for 20 years. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve and Ground Control Approach (GCA). After retiring from the Navy, he worked as an assistant warehouse manager at Sears for more than 20 years.

John is survived by his wife of 66 years, Kathryn (Troyer) Wonderling; three children, David (Debbie) Wonderling of Olney, Maryland, Donna (Larry) McCoy of Zanesville, Ohio and Richard (Diana) Wonderling of Kettering, Ohio. He is also survived by his sister, Ruth Veatch; six granddaughters; and eight great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.

Friends and family may call from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2012 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 W MILITARY RD., ZANESVILLE with Rev. Cheryl Foulk officiating. John will be laid to rest at Southlawn Cemetery in Utica, Ohio with full military honors being provided by the VFW and the United States Navy.
