One Person Wounded in Shooting

The Zanesville Police Department is investigating a shooting that sent one victim to the hospital.

Lieutenant Tony Coury said it happened around 4:30 PM on Thursday at 1563 1/2 Hickory Street.  He said a man suffered a leg wound, but his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

"Once we arrived, officers were told that he was robbed and shot by three unknown black males wearing black hoodies," said Coury.

Coury said the house is empty, and the only witness to the shooting was unable to identify the three men.  He said this neighborhood has seen a lot of drug activity recently.  Connie Nolan lives nearby on Brighton Boulevard.

"This neighborhood is really bad for crime," said Nolan.  "With the drugs, the shootings, everything that’s going on – it’s ridiculous."

Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to call the Zanesville Police Department at (740) 455-0712.
