Two Z-Ville Teen Boxers Possible Candidates for 2016 Olympics

Two Zanesville teen boxers could be going to Reno, Nevada for the 2016 Olympics.

14-year-old Zakery Rollins and 16-year-old Travis Jerig competed Saturday night at the Zanesville Police Athletic League’s Fall Brawl. President Brady Boyden says the two have won most junior national tournaments demonstrating their hard work and commitment to the sport, one that could make them olympic athletes.

"We are on the board, people from around the country know that Zanesville is part of a boxing fraternity," said Boyden.

Saturday night’s brawl though brought more than just Zanesville teens looking to throw a few punches.

"We’ve got West Virginia, Cleveland, Dayton, and Cincinnati here tonight so the kids come from afar to actually mix it up a little bit," said Boyden.

The boxing fundraisers held throughout the year helps keep area kids active, out of trouble, and something to look forward to. Proceeds from Saturday night’s event benefit the Zanesville Police Athletic League.
