Administration, Budget, Unions Top Priorities for Tilton

The city of Zanesville has elected longtime Councilman Jeff Tilton to become mayor beating out his closest challenger Rob Sharrer by 159 votes.

Tilton says it was a lot of hard work but worth the effort. He appeared on last night’s WHIZ News at 11 and thanked his supporters. He says it’s very overwhelming but come January, he’s ready to get down to business.

"First thing is getting an administration in place because we have to start working on some problems not only short term but long term situations that we have," said Tilton.

Tilton said some of those problems he plans to tackle are the City’s budget and union contract negotiations for city employees.

Tilton expressed his thanks for his opponents for running a clean and positive campaign. He officially takes office January 1st, 2012.
