Zanesville Man Charged In Weekend Shooting

Zanesville Police have arrested an area man in connection with a weekend shooting. Detective Ric Roush says it happened Saturday afternoon around 1:30. Roush says 21-year-old Roberto Brooks of Zanesville is charged with one count of felonious assault with a gun specification, one count of carrying a concealed weapon and one count of improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle. Roush says police officers were called to the area of Ridge Avenue and Schaum Avenue after gun shots were fired. When officers arrived they said they found Brooks involved in a physical confrontation with a 19-year-old Zanesville man. Police say witnesses reported that at least two gunshots were shot at the victim who was not hit. Roush says a weapon was found on the scene and the two men knew each other and had an on-going dispute, including earlier in the day Saturday. Brooks is being held in the city jail. The case will be presented to a Muskingum County Grand Jury at a later date.
