Zanesville Woman Turns 100

Lucille LeCocq has a lot to be thankful for – she’s a great-great grandmother, and on Sunday she celebrated her 100th birthday at Emeritus at North Hills in Zanesville.

LeCocq said she wasn’t sure if she would turn a century old after suffering a heart attack several years ago.  She said her doctor wasn’t optimistic about her future, and it was a miracle when her heart started beating again.

"He said it just went back in rhythm, and they were having prayers at the church for me," said LeCocq.

LeCocq describes every day as a blessing, and she was overwhelmed by the sight of all her friends and relatives who turned out for the celebration.

"This is a wonderful thing to see all of my old friends that I haven’t seen for a long time," said LeCocq.  "Words wouldn’t express how I really feel and how thankful I am."

Although she doesn’t have any secrets to share about living a long, healthy life, LeCocq said she never drank alcohol or smoked cigarettes, and she takes care of her body.
