City – Zanesville Fire Fighters Reach Tenative Deal
The City of Zanesville and local fire fighters have reached a tentative agreement on a new labor deal. It happened Friday between the City and Local 88 of the International Association of Fire Fighters. Zanesville City Council, which meets tonight, has 30 days to act on the agreement or it will go into effect. Among the highlights of the pact – Wage increase for the next three years at 2-and-three quarter percent the first two years and 3 percent the third year. The wage increase is offset by decreases in pension pick up of 3 percent the first two years and 3.5 percent the third year and then eliminated. There are also changes in insurance including payroll deduction for health care increasing by 7.5 percent over the next two years and 10 percent in the third year. Tuition reimbursements are being cut and changes to minimum staffing levels are being implemented. If approved by Council and the Mayor the measure will take effect on January 1st, 2012.
