Drug Bust In Morgan County

Morgan County Sheriff Tom Jenkins says his deputies made a heroin drug bust this past weekend. It happened around midnight Saturday on State Route 60. Jenkins says two people were stopped in a vehicle that was reportedly making frequent trips to Columbus to buy drugs. The Sheriff says prior to the stop, a passenger identified as 32-year-old James Lowers of Marietta threw out a plastic bag containing 32 grams of heroin. Jenkins says officers also found cocaine, a crack pipe, digital scales and 15-hundred dollars in cash. Sheriff Jenkins says Lowers and the driver of the vehicle, 33-year-old Alexis Madary. also of Marietta, were arrested on felony charges of possession of heroin and possession of cocaine. The two are being held in the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail. A preliminary hearing is set for Monday in Morgan County Court. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Major Crimes Task force assisted in the investigation.
