Nowlin Murder Trial Update/Day 4

The fourth day of testimony took place in the murder trial of Terrell Nowlin in Muskingum County Common Pleas Court. He is charged in the death of 19-year-old Tyler Hardin in 2010. Thursday morning Prosecutors and Defense Attorneys question Nowlin’s wife, Heather, about the events leading to Hardin’s death. Whiz Reporter Nichole Medaugh – who is inside the courtroom – says Heather Nowlin testified she lied to Hardin about papers she needed signed that would keep him from paying child support for their daughter – when in fact the papers were really so Terrell Nowlin could adopt the child. Heather Nowlin also testified about picking up Hardin the day of the murder saying they were going swimming and instead taking him to the Tipton Road property where his body was later found. Heather Nowlin also testified that Terrell Nowlin held a gun to her head and told her that he shot Hardin in the face and then in the back after Hardin started to run. Mrs. Nowlin added that Terrell took Hardin to a small culvert area with water and suffocated him. Mrs. Nowlin also testified that the day after the murder she and Terrell went back to the spot where they left the body – with trash bags on their hands and feet – and dragged Hardin’s body to where it was later found buried. As of 2:00 pm Thursday the Prosecution rested its case. The trial – in front of Common Pleas Judge Mark Fleegle – is expected to last into next week. More details and pictures from inside the courtroom on the Whiz News at 6:00 pm.
