Christmas Delivered for Area Seniors

Christmas came early for a number of Senior Citizens living in Muskingum County.

Tuesday morning Santa Claus along with Muskingum County Children Services Adult Protective Unit went door-to-door delivering presents to nearly 60 area elderly in need.

"There are many people who have been abused, who have been exploited, like all there money is taken from them and some people have been neglected," expressed Muskingum County Children Services Team Leader Patsy McDonald. "So when you carry those types of burdens in your life it’s kind of sad."

Union Representative for Children Services Deborah Haswell said the giving tradition has taken place for more than a decade. They provide not only items of need but companionship.

"It brings tears to your own eyes when you see these people because a lot of them are alone," said Haswell. "They don’t have anybody and it’s Christmas time so it’s great to bring joy to a lot of people."
