William L. “Bill” Tracy, 86, of Zanesville, formerly of Chandlersville, died October 25, 2010 at his residence.

He was born March 19, 1924 in Zanesville the son of the late Jesse and Violet Thomas Tracy. Bill proudly served in the US Army during WW II in the 112th Combat Engineer Battalion. In 1957 he married Dorothy Sieliet Tracy. He was a member of the Chandlersville United Methodist Church, Lifetime member of VFW Post 1058, former member of Madison Grange, Newark and retired from Armco Steel in December 1973 due to his health. He enjoyed going to the Senior Center, reading, spending time with family and took much pride in his home and gardening.

Bill was an inspiration to many and will always be remembered for his courage to be strong willed even during his most difficult times – he is at rest now without pain.

Bill is survived by his daughter: Linda (Randy) Kepler, step-daughter: Connie (Oscar) Jones, grandson: Jason Winkle, granddaughter: Courtney Kepler Caliman and great grandson: Kaleb Lee Caliman, brother: Robert Tracy and Becca Sellars who was like a great granddaughter to him all of Zanesville.

Preceding him in death was his wife: Dorothy who died April 23, 1991, brothers: Glenford, Jesse, Bernard and Louis Tracy and sisters: Lucille Tracy, Francis Brown and Louise Bates.

Friends may call 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 Thursday October 28, 2010 at the Bryan & Snider Funeral Home 2318 Maple Ave. where funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday October 29, 2010. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery with VFW Post 1058 conducting military services.
