Stock Up On Party Supplies

The shelves are stocked at party stores in preparation for New Year’s Eve.

Manager of Derverber Dixie Duemmel said it’s fun working at a place where people are generally in a good mood.  She said all of the popular supplies are still available for now.

"Most people like to have the poppers, noise makers and horns to blow," said Duemmel.  "Of course they always get a tiara or hat to wear."

Duemmel said that because New Year’s falls on a weekend this year, she expects to see even more customers than usual.  She said it’s difficult to predict exactly how much merchandise will be sold, but she says it’s always a great turnout.

"It’s one of our biggest holidays," said Duemmel.  "Usually we have about 100 people or more come through the door on New Year’s Eve.  Throughout the week, a lot of people come in and get items for the new year, so there must be a lot of home parties too."

Duemmel said the store is staying open tomorrow for last-minute shoppers.
