Abigail Smith Bailey (March 16, 1944 – January 20, 2012)
Abigail Smith Bailey, BSN, RN died on January 20, 2012 from cancer, a fibrosarcoma, at the Genesis Hospice & Palliative Care Morrison House. She was born in Veracruz, Mexico on March 16, 1944 to the late James Garfield Smith & late Eva Maria Andrade Smith.
She was a stay-at-home mother for many years then last worked as a Supervisor Nurse at Mohun Health Care Center in Columbus, OH for many years. She was a gifted musician who could play anything by ear upon hearing it once. She shared her love of music as the organist and pianist at the Zanesville SDA Church. Among her hobbies, she enjoyed travelling, photography, cooking, Sudoku, making candles, and tending to her rose garden.
Abigail is survived by a loving family including her husband, Gordon Bailey, whom she married August 13, 1967; children: David (LaVerne Shaw) Bailey of Fargo, ND, Eva Bailey of Zanesville, Albert (Anastasia) Bailey of Columbus, and Sachiko (Masato) Kashiwaji of Japan; granddaughters: Simone and Maya Bailey and Mako Kashiwaji; sisters: Edith Schlosser and Naomi (Ken Steiner) Smith; nephews: Sam De La Vega, Victor De La Vega, and Benjamin Martinez; nieces: Annamarie Fletcher and Elizabeth Steiner. In addition to her parents, Abigail is preceded in death by her brother Nehemias Andrade. A host of other family members, cousins, in-laws, and friends are also mourning.
The family is being served by the Bryan & Snider Funeral Home at 2318 Maple Ave. where a viewing will take place from 4-7pm on Friday, January 27th. The funeral service will be at 3pm on Sunday, January 29th at the Zanesville SDA Church, 824 Taylor Street. A live stream of the service will also be broadcasted on http://ustre.am/FCRA. Pastor Loren Seibold will officiate and a visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Abbey will be laid to rest at the Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery on Monday, January 30th at 1pm.
