Joan “Joanie” Fitz (November 5, 1930 – February 7, 2012)

Joan “Joanie” Fitz, 81 of Zanesville passed away Tuesday February 7, 2012 at Emeritus at North Hills. She was born in Columbus a daughter of the late Joseph H. and Lucinda Roush McLean. She was retired as Assistant Director of Radiology at Bethesda Hospital and was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Philo. In early years, she and her husband enjoyed their annual travels to Canada and different beaches. Joanie was considered the “Mayor” of Emeritus and tried to be a support to staff and residence when possible. She spent much of her spare time doing picture puzzles, which have been enjoyed by many.
She is survived by nieces and nephews Jim (Joni), Joe (Marilyn), Rick and Ron(Kathy)McLean, Don (Karen) Good and Gail (Susie) Good, Karen (Sheppard) Wilson, Kris (Danny) Searls, John (Lynn) Fitz, Pat (Sherrie) Harris and Trudy Harris (Jerry) Land; several great and great great nieces and nephews; sister-in-laws Dorothy McDermott, Rose Fitz, Ruth Harris and Dottie Fitz; special friend Glenna Pfeifer and her many friends and caregivers at Emeritus.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Clarence “Bud” Fitz on October 7, 1999; brother Paul (Marge) McLean and sister Nedra McLean.
Calling hours will be held from4-7 on Friday February 10, 2012 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME 1150 W. MILITARY RD ZANESVILLE. Funeral services will be held at 11am Saturday February 11, 2012 in the Snouffer Chapel with Randy Schroder and Frank Clifton officiating. Burial will follow in Duncan Falls Cemetery.
