Zanesville: Wanda L. Raytis, 69, of Zanesville, died Tuesday, April 10, at 4:05PM, at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital Critical Care Unit following complications from Phenomena. She was born December 11, 1942 in Las Cruces, New Mexico the daughter of Rev. Waymon Canady and Pauline Mc Donell.

After graduating from Central High School in 1960, she attended Lee Bible College in Cleveland, Tennessee as a bible scholar. Wanda was employed for several years in newspaper marketing and sales at the Sacramento Bee, Fresno Bee and San Francisco Legal Recorder. Additionally, she was also a freelance interior designer.

She had been a member of the Market Street Baptist Church.

Wanda leaves behind her loving mother: Pauline Mc Donell of Zanesville, her beloved husband: John Raytis; their most cherished eight year old daughter: Natalie; her dearly loved daughters: Andrea Wilson (Mark) of Edgewater, Maryland and Laura Moses of Zanesville. She is also survived by her husband’s children, whom she loved very much: Dr. John Raytis (Denise) of Burbank, CA, Maureen Vargas (Rick) of San Francisco, CA, Daniel Raytis (Katy) of Bakersfield, CA and Michael Raytis (Noelle) of San Leandro, CA. She is survived by 10 grandchildren.

Besides her father, Wanda was preceded in death by her sister: Pat Bettes and her brother: Waymon Canady, Jr.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Critical Care Unit at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital, who treated Wanda with great care and respect.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, April 13th at The Hillis & Hardwick Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, OH. The Funeral Service will he held 12 Noon, Saturday, April 14th at Market Street Baptist Church, 140 North Sixth Street, Zanesville, with Pastor Howard Thompson presiding.
